Compensation: $22.52 per hour (Compensation under review)
Hours of Work: The standard hours of work for this position average 35 hours per week, which is comprised of 7.5 hours per day for 14 days and one day off unpaid in each three-week period.

Community Services & Protective Services (CS&PS) is The City of Calgary’s largest department with over 5,000 employees who enrich Calgarians’ quality of life through a wide range of leisure, social and public safety services and programs. Strategic Services is a department-level function created to link business, operational and planning processes between and beyond CS&PS business units, and to lead initiatives that serve the department’s collective interests in support of Council Priorities.
Community Services & Protective Services has an exciting opportunity for a summer student to fill the role of Communications Assistant. Specific duties of this position will involve:
Support with implementation of communications plans and programs.
Draft communications materials for print and web.
Assist with web editing.
Assist with social media.
The successful applicant must be enrolled in a diploma or degree program related to Communications, Marketing, or Public Relations. An intermediate level of proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) is required. Previous experience in communications, marketing, or event management would be considered assets.
Competencies for this position include strong communication planning skills, web and social media skills, excellent problem solving skills and strong interpersonal skills.
Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications.
You must have attended school full time in 2013/2014 to apply on this competition and intend to return to school on a full time basis in the next academic year.
